Job Description
Flo, a leading health app with over 400M downloads and 75M monthly users, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead their GenAI technical strategy and implementation. This role involves developing model benchmarking frameworks, driving AI tooling development, designing human-in-the-loop systems, and architecting AI infrastructure. The Director will also provide cross-functional leadership, partnering with medical and product teams, and manage engineering teams, fostering an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities: - Leading GenAI technical strategy and implementation
- Developing model benchmarking and evaluation frameworks
- Driving AI tooling development and integration
- Designing human-in-the-loop systems
- Establishing dataset collection and curation methodologies
- Architecting AI infrastructure (model serving, monitoring, scaling)
- Optimizing performance and defining quality metrics
- Partnering with medical teams for model safety validation
- Collaborating with product teams to define model usefulness metrics and user needs
- Working alongside product peers on solution design and user experience
- Making technical decisions while aligning with business objectives
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across departments
- Building and developing high-performing engineering teams
- Coaching and mentoring engineering managers
- Driving hiring strategies and team growth
- Fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture
- Setting clear goals and development paths for direct reports
Requirements: - Deep technical expertise in GenAI systems and infrastructure
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams
- Strong cross-functional leadership experience
- Experience with AI safety and evaluation frameworks
- Track record of successful product delivery
