Job Description
Verkada is seeking a Staff+ Application Security Engineer to enhance the security of its cloud-based B2B physical security platform. The role involves integrating security into applications throughout the software development lifecycle and promoting security best practices. The engineer will collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve product security and exceed customer expectations. They will also explore innovative solutions to enable Verkada's business securely, define and execute goals, and set up security tooling.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate security in applications.
  • Evangelize software security best practices.
  • Improve product security.
  • Explore innovative security solutions.
  • Define and execute security goals.
  • Set up security tooling.
  • Perform architecture analysis and threat modeling.
  • Create and operate a bug bounty program.
  • Triage and recommend solutions for security bugs.
  • Collaborate with the CISO and security team.
  • Share security experience internally and externally.
  • Help peer engineers grow their security knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Strong experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, SRE, or security consulting.
  • Understanding of security weaknesses, exploits, attacks, and mitigations.
  • Coding ability in Python/Go.
  • Excellent collaborative and communication skills.
  • Experience with Security Development Lifecycle, Threat Modeling, Architecture Analysis, Security Code Review, Open Policy Agent, SIEM.
