Principal Software Engineer, Traffic Management

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive the technical vision and strategy for its next-generation traffic management capabilities. This role involves developing world-class traffic management, capacity planning, and load testing capabilities. The Principal Engineer will collaborate across the engineering organization to understand service load and champion innovative, scalable solutions.

The role involves:

• Setting the technical vision and strategy for traffic management at Affirm.
• Building and expanding traffic management capabilities.
• Collaborating with engineering to understand service load.
• Championing innovative solutions across the organization.
• Researching, brainstorming, and prototyping ideas.

Affirm is looking for someone who:

• Has experience in traffic management, load testing, or capacity planning.
• Has extensive experience in designing and implementing traffic shaping, cluster management, and load shedding systems at scale
• Has a track record of leading complex engineering infrastructure projects.
• Has the ability to mentor high-potential engineers.
• Is detail oriented and fully immersed in day to day execution and delivery.
• Is a strong communicator with the ability to convey technical vision.
• Has 15+ years of software engineering experience.
