Job Description
Vercel is seeking a Director of Global Payroll to develop and scale its payroll function, preparing it for potential future as a public company. This role involves developing and implementing payroll policies, leading system implementations, and establishing strong internal controls. The Director will spearhead strategic initiatives to streamline payroll operations.What This Role Involves:
  • Overseeing global payroll operations, including in-house US payroll and international professional employer organizations.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing the payroll team.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (People, Legal, Tax) to resolve payroll compliance issues.
  • Leading new system implementations and serving as the payroll lead for international subsidiaries.
  • Establishing and maintaining payroll compliance policies and procedures.
  • Staying informed about changes in payroll regulations and updating internal stakeholders.
  • Enhancing accounting operational efficiency by standardizing processes.
  • Managing employee expenses and overseeing the company's travel and expense policy.
  • Assisting with month-end closing activities related to payroll and employee expenses.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in payroll, with a minimum of 5 years managing a team.
  • Proven experience managing global payroll operations at a public company.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations across multiple countries.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems including ADP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of the payroll tax implications of employee equity awards.
  • Located in SF Bay Area
