Job Description

PhonePe Group is seeking an Area Sales Manager (ASM) responsible for driving PhonePe acceptance at offline merchants across urban and rural markets in India. The ASM will build and maintain strong relationships with Merchants, DSAs, and sales executives. The role involves understanding local merchant/customer needs and driving PhonePe transactions based on brand positioning and local requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Grow distribution and market share in the assigned area.
  • Identify, interact, and develop DSAs to align and drive business.
  • Formulate and launch counter-strategies against local competition.
  • Analyze data and identify improvement areas.
  • Plan market size, span & geographies for the team.
  • Handle merchant escalations and partner with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure payouts to and from DSA are done as per process and timelines.
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and coaching of team members.
  • Monitor quality parameters and compliance.

Requirements:

  • MBA from a Tier 1 campus with a good academic record.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in sales and distribution/business development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing larger teams.
  • Exposure to the start-up environment is an added advantage.
  • Problem-solving abilities and strong ethics.
