Rocket Lab is seeking a GNC Engineer to join their Neutron program in Auckland, New Zealand. This role involves mission design and trajectory optimization, embedded GNC algorithms development, simulation, interacting with teams to inform vehicle design, and automated hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns. The GNC Engineer will develop and maintain software for guidance, navigation, and control systems.
  • Mission design and trajectory optimisation
  • Embedded GNC algorithms development
  • Simulation including hardware and physics modelling
  • Interacting with all teams, studying and inform vehicle design trades
  • Automated hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test campaigns
Requirements:
  • Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. in relevant engineering field
  • Experience with dynamics and modelling of launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or robotics
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics and/or closed-loop control systems
  • Experience developing in C/C++
  • Experience developing in Python or MATLAB
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
