Staff Embedded Linux Security Engineer

Job Description

Verkada is seeking a Staff Embedded Linux Security Engineer to enhance the security of hardware and firmware for devices like cameras and access control units. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to design secure features, explore innovative security solutions, and improve product security. The engineer will also set up security tooling, triage security bugs, participate in code reviews, and share security expertise internally and externally.Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the security of hardware and firmware on Verkada devices.
• Assist in the architecture and design of critical security features.
• Partner with Product, Hardware, and Backend engineering to improve product security.
• Set up security tooling for secure coding practices.
• Triage and recommend solutions for security bugs.
• Participate in code reviews and pull requests.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to define goals and priorities.
• Share security experience internally and externally.
• Help peer engineers grow their security knowledge.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience as a security engineer, software engineer, or security consultant.
• Familiarity with security weaknesses, exploits, attacks, and mitigations.
• Coding ability for writing production code.
• Excellent collaborative skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication.
• Experience with Linux System Security, Device Drivers, Kernel, Fuzzing, Network protocols, and Static Analysis.
