xAI is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join their Multimodal team. This role is based in the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco and Palo Alto, CA. The successful candidate will contribute to building AI systems that understand the universe and aid humanity's pursuit of knowledge.
The Software Engineer will be instrumental in developing and optimizing data pipelines related to multimodal data, which includes images, videos, and audio. They will focus on acquisition, preprocessing, data loading, visualization, and management of this data. xAI requires candidates to be located near the Bay Area or open to relocation.
Responsibilities include:
- Building tools to assist the acquisition of multimedia data.
- Building petabyte-scale, high-throughput data processing systems for multimodal data.
- Building high-throughput, and low-latency data decoding and loading pipelines.
- Building visualization and management tools for datasets.
Ideal candidates possess:
- Expertise in developing software for large-scale distributed machine learning systems.
- Expert knowledge in Spark, GPUs, Kubernetes, and JAX (or PyTorch).
- Experience in standard software engineering best practices (CI/CD).
