Dialpad is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Microservices Platform team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Microservices Platform team develops common cloud microservice infrastructure, libraries, and tooling for the engineering organization. This includes a web services framework for cloud-based serverless apps, services like cache, datastore, and text search, as well as all the tools and frameworks needed to deploy microservices to the public cloud. The company's common infrastructure allows other engineering teams to effectively build and maintain cloud-native products and services at scale.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for owning future roadmaps of the common services that Dialpad's microservices and cloud applications depend on. He will work closely with other Dialpad engineering teams to understand their needs and pain points and determine the best infrastructure roadmap. The role focuses on enhancing the scalability and resiliency of serverless apps and reducing infrastructure costs.

What this role involves:

  • Supporting the performance and career growth of direct reports through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaborating with other engineering managers and senior engineers to create a 1 to 3-year roadmap & vision for the team.
  • Assisting in evaluating technical design & architecture documents and proposals.
  • Working with geographically distributed peers to align on engineering-wide priorities.
  • Owning large projects end-to-end.
  • Driving effective engineering processes and policies.
  • Scaling the team by recruiting candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Assisting with writing code, providing feedback on technical implementations & conducting architectural and code reviews.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience as a technical leader or engineering manager.
  • 8+ years of professional experience as an engineer or engineering leader.
  • Hiring & interviewing skills.
  • Onboarding & mentorship experience.
  • Experience working with Microservices, Serverless Architectures a plus.
  • Experience working with Containerization and Orchestration, in the Cloud a plus.
