Senior Backend Engineer, Horizon (Kotlin/Java) at CookUnity

CookUnity is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Horizon Team. This role is pivotal in optimizing backend services and APIs that drive the CookUnity experience. The engineer will work on a Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architecture, developing and maintaining backend services and databases.

The Horizon team is responsible for enabling various business models within CookUnity, ensuring users can seamlessly manage subscriptions and place orders. The team focuses on enabling business models and subscriptions, and ensuring order management and integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs across mobile and web.
• Implement and optimize the BFF layer.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to design and implement new subscription-related features.
• Optimize database queries and caching strategies.
• Improve monitoring, observability, and logging for backend services.
• Participate in code reviews.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with expertise in Kotlin, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and BFF.
• Experience working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and optimizing queries.
• Familiarity with service-oriented architecture and microservices.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Solid understanding of performance optimization, caching, and API response efficiency.
• Advanced English communication skills.
