Job Description

CookUnity is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join their Personalization Squad. This role is remote and based in Latin America. The company aims to connect the world with chefs, delivering fresh, ready-to-eat meals crafted with passion. The Personalization Squad enhances systems that power personalized user experiences across CookUnity’s platform, focusing on tailor-made content, recommendations, and experiences.

The Staff Full Stack Engineer will lead technical initiatives, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers as the team scales the user personalization infrastructure. This engineer will collaborate with Data teams, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services that power CookUnity’s personalization systems.
  • Define and drive architectural improvements that enhance system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Data teams to provide tailor-made content that adjusts to user needs.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, setting a high standard for technical excellence.
  • Improve system observability, performance, and resilience.
  • Contribute as a hands-on engineer, writing clean, well-tested, and efficient code.
  • Lead technical planning and project execution.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with expertise in Kotlin, React, and SQL databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL).
  • Experience in architecting and scaling complex backend systems.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and event-driven architecture.
  • Deep understanding of system performance and scalability best practices.
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into actionable plans.
  • Advanced English communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding engineers.
