Senior Associate Corporate Counsel

Job Description

The ACLU is seeking a Senior Associate Corporate Counsel to support the Co-Chief Corporate Counsels with regulatory compliance matters. This is a hybrid role based in New York, NY, requiring in-office presence two days a week. The Senior Associate Corporate Counsel will play a crucial role in maintaining the organization's rigorous compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Advise on tax-exempt organization federal tax law issues.
• Support compliance with charitable solicitation law and consumer protection regulations.
• Assist with contract drafting and negotiation.
• Lead development of training programs for federal tax law compliance.
• Partner and advise on federal tax law timekeeping, budget coding, and reporting.
• Assist with nonprofit governance issues.

Requirements:

• JD degree from an accredited university.
• Admitted to practice in at least one state (NY preferred).
• Three to four years’ experience in U.S. federal tax law for tax-exempt organizations.
• Experience with charitable solicitation regulation and commercial co-ventures.
