Commercial Contracts Legal Associate at Sezzle

Sezzle is seeking a Commercial Contracts Legal Associate. The candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. This role requires a solid understanding of contract law, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work closely with various departments to ensure contractual obligations are met and risks are minimized. • Drafting of Contracts: Prepare, review, and finalize a variety of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, customer agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Negotiation of Contracts: Negotiate the commercial terms and conditions with Sezzle’s clients and partners and ensure proper finalization for signatures.
• Legal Compliance: Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Provide guidance on legal issues related to contracts and advise on potential risks.
• Contract Management: Maintain and manage the contract database, ensuring that all contracts are up-to-date, properly filed, and easily accessible. Monitor key contract milestones and renewal dates.
• Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks in contract terms and conditions, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure that contract terms meet business needs and objectives.
• Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving any disputes that may arise from contractual agreements.
• Legal Research: Conduct legal research on issues related to contracts.
• Training and Development: Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters.

Sezzle requires:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• 2-4 years of experience in commercial contract law
• Strong understanding of contract law
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
