Director, Annotations at Motive

Motive is seeking a Director of Annotations to lead its Data Annotation Department, a team of over 350 analysts, program managers, engineers, and annotators. This role involves driving strategic initiatives, managing workforce planning, and ensuring smooth 24/7 operations. The Director will partner with AI/ML teams to support model development and collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.Responsibilities include:

• Leading the Data Annotation Department.
• Driving strategic initiative planning and execution.
• Defining Program OKRs and owning execution metrics.
• Managing workforce planning and strategies.
• Ensuring 24/7 live operations run smoothly.
• Leading project management and quality assurance teams.
• Collaborating with AI/ML, Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Leading quarterly and yearly planning and managing the org's P&L.
• Communicating the health of projects and features to stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 8+ years of overall experience, including 3+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience in video or data annotation (preferred).
• Strong knowledge in live operations, quality assurance, and project management.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience managing large remote organizations (150+ people).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with project management tools and agile methodologies.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with Data Scientists and/or ML Researchers (a plus).
• An academic background in engineering or a related field (preferred).
