Senior Software Engineer - Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector - USA

Job Description

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Alloy team, focusing on the Grafana Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector. This role involves delivering new functionality, contributing to design documents, and actively participating in the OpenTelemetry collector community. The engineer will ensure Alloy integrates well with Prometheus components and support customers with their observability pipelines.

The Senior Software Engineer will collaborate with other teams within Grafana to ensure Alloy works well with their solutions. They will also participate in on-call rotations for deployments. Grafana Labs is a remote-first company, so independent attitude and good communication skills are essential.

What this role involves:

• Working with the Alloy team to deliver new functionality
• Contributing to and reviewing design documents for upcoming features
• Being an active member of the OpenTelemetry collector community
• Making sure that Alloy integrates well with Prometheus components
• Supporting customers and prospects with setting up their observability pipelines
• Working with other teams within Grafana to make sure Alloy works well with the solutions they are building
• Participating in on-call rotations for our deployments

Requirements:

• Passion for observability
• Excellent communication skills
• Relevant open source experience, ideally in OpenTelemetry or Prometheus
• Willingness to become an active member of the OpenTelemetry community
• Good understanding of production environments
• Experience operating production infrastructure and services, and organizing on-call (Ideally)
