Job Description
Sotheby's is seeking a Cataloguer to join its 20th Century Design Department in New York. The Cataloguer will collaborate with the Head of Sale and other Specialists to catalogue and coordinate sales.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and catalogue objects to the highest standard.
  • Prepare footnotes/essays and talking points for each work.
  • Assist with research and object vetting.
  • Facilitate conservation projects and prepare condition reports.
  • Assist with catalogue layouts and liaise with various departments.
  • Assist with valuations, proposals, and appraisal projects.
  • Provide comprehensive service to Sotheby’s clients.
  • Participate in the New York arts community.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience in the art world or related academic program.
  • Good, general knowledge of 20th Century Decorative Arts and Design.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Thorough and focused with a passion for learning.
  • Professional client service skills.
  • Excellent writing, proof-reading, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment and meet deadlines.
