Principal Data Scientist

Job Description

Tekion is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to drive innovation in the automotive industry. In this role, the individual will lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The Principal Data Scientist will shape Tekion's data science strategy, mentor technical teams, and solve industry challenges through data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the strategic vision for Applied Science initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise in developing and deploying scalable ML/AI models.
• Collaborate with executive leaders, product managers, and engineering teams.
• Design and oversee production-grade ML systems.
• Drive the development of state-of-the-art algorithms.
• Identify and incorporate diverse data sources.
• Lead the creation of end-to-end ML pipelines.
• Mentor and guide senior data scientists and applied scientists.
• Publish and present research to reinforce Tekion’s leadership.
• Influence industry trends by integrating emerging technologies.

Requirements:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in applied science, data science, or machine learning.
• Expertise in advanced ML algorithms, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Extensive programming experience in Python and/or similar languages.
• Experience in designing scalable, distributed machine learning systems.
• Strong understanding of big data ecosystems and tools.
• Exceptional ability to translate data science concepts into business decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring technical staff.
