Machine Learning Engineer

Job Description

Smartling, a cloud-based, AI-enabled translation platform, is seeking a passionate Machine Learning Engineer. The Machine Learning Engineer will research, build, deploy, and maintain a suite of tools oriented towards generating best-in-class translations. They will join an existing LanguageAI team that uses Agile/Scrum and data-driven decisions.

This role involves:

• Creating assets, models, and pipelines for machine learning models.
• Researching and understanding linguistic characteristics of various locales and languages.
• Pre-processing data via Python.
• Feature engineering and model construction.
• Model training and validation via various Python libraries.
• Evaluating ML models once deployed.
• Engineering prompts to work with state-of-the-art LLMs.
• Collaborating with product/engineering teams to deliver high-quality features.
• Advising other teams on the feasibility of AI/ML features.

The requirements are:

• BS+ degree in computer science, machine learning, or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in Python (3+ years experience required).
• Expert-level understanding of statistics and probability.
• Expert knowledge of deep learning libraries (Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.).
• Experience in data analytics with a deep understanding of statistics.
• Experience using various NLP techniques to solve real-world problems.
• Knowledge of relational databases.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
