Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Gen AI at Mozilla

Mozilla is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join the Firefox team. This role involves developing and growing new Generative AI-driven products and tools. The Staff Engineer will play a key role in enabling safe and healthy machine learning and Generative AI-driven experiences in Firefox. This position requires a domain expert to lead others within a single team to tackle multi-month projects, influencing and directing the work of several engineers.

What this role involves:

• Leading the design, development, and integration of Generative AI solutions in Firefox.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with product management, full-stack engineering, and design.
• Building infrastructure for training and inference of LLMs and small language and vision models.
• Implementing robust validation and testing procedures.
• Continuously monitoring and optimizing deployed models.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
• Experience designing and building machine learning tooling and infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed systems and platforms for AI integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and communication skills.
• Experience working collaboratively with product managers and other non-engineering teams.
• Effective documentation and communication skills on a distributed team.
