Job Description

GoCardless is seeking a Data Engineer to bolster their growing business and enhance data capabilities. This role is pivotal in the digital transformation of GoCardless, ensuring strategic data management, efficient utilization, and secure maintenance. The Data Engineer will create models that provide insights into the company's growth, with scalability and resilience as key considerations.

The Data Engineer will collaborate with BI Analysts, BI Engineers, and Data Operators, designing and implementing data foundations. This position is based in Riga, Latvia.

Role Involves:

• Developing and maintaining a data architecture for strategic goals.
• Providing technical expertise in data warehouse design and maintenance.
• Developing coherent data models that transform complex datasets.
• Collaborating with engineers to build data pipelines.
• Building BI tooling leveraging Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
• Supporting self-service Business Intelligence through BI tools like dbt and Looker.

Requirements:

• Experience as a data engineer with cloud tooling.
• Ability to spot opportunities and solve problems with data.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical work.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data products.
• Ability to grasp datasets quickly.
• Experience automating tasks and building ETL pipelines.
• Experience writing production level code.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture and database design.
• Excellent SQL skills and experience with scripting languages like Python.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Experience with self-serve data tools like Looker or Tableau.
• Experience in an agile environment.
• Ability to communicate work to technical and non-technical audiences.
