VP, Head of Contemporary Marquee Sales

Job Description

Sotheby's is seeking a VP, Head of Contemporary Marquee Sales to strategically oversee the Contemporary Art Evening Auction and The Now Evening Auction. This role involves contributing to sourcing works, coordinating consignments, and managing the look and feel of catalogue production, marketing materials, and exhibitions.Responsibilities include:

• Driving estimating meetings and providing direction for sourcing meetings.
• Presenting proactive business opportunities and securing business.
• Meeting individual consignment targets per season and contributing significantly annually.
• Crafting bespoke proposal documents and regularly reviewing strategies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art History or related field.
• 5 years of experience sourcing and selling contemporary artwork in auctions or private sales.
• 5 years of experience with contemporary art valuation and pricing.
• 5 years of experience building and managing high-level client relationships.
• 5 years of experience writing and presenting formal sales proposals.
• 3 years of experience with consignments of collections and single items valued over $50 million.
• 1 year of experience utilizing knowledge of the financial aspects of the auction business.
