Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

Verkada is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing its network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance and security, configure and maintain network hardware and software, and troubleshoot network issues. This role requires collaboration with other IT professionals to support Verkada's organizational goals. The candidate should possess a deep technical aptitude for network operations, design, and deployment in corporate environments, with a focus on security and global scale. They should also understand the day-to-day aspects of an IT organization, especially in a high-growth startup environment.Responsibilities include:

• Designing, installing, and maintaining network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Implementing and enforcing network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Collaborating with other IT team members to integrate network systems with other applications and systems.
• Providing technical support and training to end-users as needed.
• Staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our network infrastructure.
• Developing analytics and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of current environments and identify scale and value-creation opportunities.
• Creating and maintaining standards, procedures, and documentation related to security and compliance requirements for broader corporate systems environments.
• Participating in system audits and performing testing for disaster recovery or SOX controls, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of the managed systems.

Requirements include:

• Excellent teamwork skills.
• 8+ years in Network engineering (Corporate IT) with proven experience on network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances (e.g., Aruba Networks, Juniper Mist, Palo Alto Networks).
• Proficiency in network security practices and technologies (e.g., IDS/IPS, NAC, SSL, IPsec).
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Auvik, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Bash) for network automation.
• Flexible work schedule.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both engineering and non-engineering audiences with customer focus and problem solving mentality.
• Ability to find out-of-box solutions to best fit business needs and requirements.

Verkada offers:

• A competitive annual on-target earnings (OTE) range of $150,000 - $180,000 USD.
• Additional forms of compensation, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs).
