Job Description
Altana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to join its Engineering team. This team is responsible for building platforms, APIs, services, workflows, and logical architectures to bring Altana's vision to life. The ideal candidate will work closely with Data Scientists on projects analyzing world-scale datasets, writing scalable code for insights, and constructing APIs to deliver the product vision.Role involves:
  • Ingesting product requirements and defining technical specifications.
  • Developing implementation plans aligned with product roadmaps.
  • Maintaining, developing, and deploying services within the overall architecture.
  • Analyzing and proposing technical solutions to enhance product offerings.
  • Automating, testing, and deploying individual and team work.
  • Reviewing code and technical designs of team members.
  • Mentoring developers and enhancing their skills.
  • Driving technical decision-making and problem-solving within the team.
  • Identifying and addressing technical and operational gaps.
  • Serving as a domain expert for a portion of the product surface area.
  • Cooperating with team leads and managers to maintain focus on outcomes.
Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend or data-driven software development.
  • Experience deploying production code to cloud-hosted environments.
  • Experience delivering incremental releases.
  • Experience with Python Machine Learning toolsets (Numpy, Pandas, Dedupe).
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading other engineers on complex projects.
