Contentful is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in Dublin. The engineer will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to build a best-in-class experience for customers. The successful candidate will solve complex engineering and content modeling problems, enabling greater flexibility in how customers connect and reuse their content. They will also enhance REST and GraphQL API experiences, leveraging AI to enhance user experience and streamline operations. The role involves developing on Contentful's platform using modern services like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

What the role involves:

  • Working closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers in a cross-functional team.
  • Solving complex engineering and Content Modelling problems.
  • Enabling greater re-use and customization of Contentful through enhancements to the App Framework.
  • Continuously enhancing REST and GraphQL API experiences.
  • Getting involved in Contentful's journey to leverage AI.
  • Developing on Contentful's Platform with modern services.

Requirements:

  • Experience in designing, building, and delivering robust distributed systems, REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong knowledge and commercial experience working with the server-side JavaScript ecosystem (Node.js) and TypeScript.
  • Lead by example and be an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence and coding best practices.
  • Strong teamwork skills, open to diverse opinions, able to give reasons for your technical decisions and guide/mentor less seasoned engineers.
  • Familiarity with automated deployment processes (CI/CD) and version control (Git).
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of functional programming principles, GraphQL and serverless applications a plus.
