THE ICONIC is seeking a Payroll Officer to join their Finance & Commercial Team in Sydney. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing payroll processing duties, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with Australian legislative requirements.
This role is crucial to THE ICONIC’s finance team and employee experience, aiming to deliver an amazing experience reflecting their unique culture and brand. The Payroll Officer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the payroll cycle and contribute to process improvements.
What this role involves:
- Managing payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
- Ensuring all payrolls are processed accurately, compliantly, and timely.
- Processing fortnightly payroll for approximately 550 employees.
- Calculating timesheets and salaries for casual and permanent employees in line with multiple Awards.
- Processing new starters, pro-rata salaries, and leavers' final salaries, including terminations, redundancies, and dismissals.
- Supporting internal and external audits related to payroll.
- Interpreting Awards and new legislation impacting payroll.
- Addressing and resolving employee payroll queries promptly.
- Collaborating with People & Culture to ensure seamless payroll integration and operations.
- Participating in projects impacting payroll activities, providing insights and expertise.
Requirements:
- 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all payroll processes and practices, including applicable state and national employment laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of Industrial Awards/Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with payroll systems like Workday and ADP.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage conflict and apply policy effectively.
- Strong ethics, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability in fast-paced settings.
- Possessing any type of payroll qualification will be advantageous.
