L/S Data Analyst

Job Description

Point72 is seeking a Data Analyst to join their Long/Short Equities team. The role is embedded within an investment team, where the analyst will drive innovation using various data sources and systems, connecting data with fundamental research to support investment theses.

The Data Analyst will work directly with a portfolio manager and research analysts, focusing on equities, to analyze Compliance-approved data and influence investment decisions. This position requires designing, building, and maintaining data products and predictive models for analyzing key performance indicators. The analyst will also investigate innovative approaches for extracting meaningful insights from complex datasets and develop automated systems for real-time data analysis.

• Analyze Compliance-approved data to directly influence idea generation and investment decisions.
• Design, build, and maintain data products and predictive models.
• Investigate and explore innovative approaches to extract meaningful information from complex datasets.
• Develop agile, automated systems that rapidly ingest, synthesize, and analyze diverse sets of information in real-time.
• Optimize and scale existing data infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and modular code, creating well-documented custom libraries and data pipelines.
• Partner with Compliance on all aspects such as approved data sources, permissibility of systems, and analytics.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree or higher.
• Quantitative ability as demonstrated through relevant coursework or work equivalent.
• Experience working with diverse data types.
• Strong understanding of statistical concepts.
• Strong coding skills in a high-level programming language (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or similar).
• Familiarity with version control systems (such as Git) and collaborative development practices.
• Ability to comprehend, navigate, and expand existing code bases.
• Strong data visualization skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated capacity to translate business questions into data-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated interest in AI applications and experience using widely available AI tools and platform.
