Job Description
Point72 is seeking a Sector Analyst to join their Market Intelligence team. This role involves partnering with investment professionals and the Compliance team to uncover insights about companies, industries, and the economy through fundamental research and applying data science techniques. The Sector Analyst will work alongside a talented team with diverse skills and backgrounds, contributing to building compliant research products for investment professionals.

Role Involves:
  • Analyzing alternative data to gather industry context and business fundamentals.
  • Partnering with data scientists and engineers to develop analyses for investment professionals.
  • Producing research for internal consumption through written reports, verbal communication, and visualization tools.
  • Interacting with investment professionals to learn the discretionary investment process.
  • Collaborating with proprietary research teams to source, explore, and transform data assets.
Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree or advanced degree with demonstrated academic success
  • One to five years of prior equity/investment/scientific research or consulting experience, including any relevant internship experience
  • Comfort with analyzing novel data and explaining concepts to non-technical partners
  • Basic proficiency with technical coding/programming (SQL, Python).
  • Great organizational skills, creativity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of and passion for how companies, industries, and sectors operate.
  • Elevated business intuition and ability to structure ambiguous problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to operate productively in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leveraging data analysis as part of fundamental research.
