Perplexity is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to the development of next-gen search technologies. This role is based in Belgrade, Serbia.Perplexity has experienced substantial growth since launching its conversational answer engine, reaching 10 million monthly active users and serving over 500 million queries. The company is well-funded by prominent investors and is dedicated to expanding its AI-powered search capabilities.Responsibilities:
- Advance search quality through models, data, and tools.
- Design and construct core components of the search platform and model stack.
- Train and assess retrieval, ranking, and classification models, including LLMs.
- Implement models, from boosting to LLMs, in a scalable and efficient manner.
- Develop and refine RAG pipelines for grounding and answer generation.
- Work with Data, AI, Infrastructure, and Product teams for timely and high-quality delivery.
- Extensive knowledge of search and retrieval systems, including quality evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience with large-scale search or recommender systems.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and execution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in search or recsys-related projects.
