The ACLU is seeking a Director of Nationwide Prospect Development & Portfolio Strategy. This role is within the Development Department and will be based in the National office in New York, NY, requiring a hybrid work arrangement of two days per week in the office.This role will lead a strategic, insight-driven program that powers major gifts fundraising across the ACLU’s national and affiliate network. The Director will oversee a team responsible for identifying and advancing high-capacity donors, strengthening prospect portfolios, and delivering the necessary systems, data, and strategy for fundraisers to build transformative relationships.
What this role involves: - Guiding the strategy for identifying, researching, and advancing top prospects.
- Overseeing a team that provides prospect research and philanthropic insights.
- Improving the quality and value of donor data.
- Developing and maintaining systems for donor assignment and reassignment.
- Building partnerships with portfolio managers at the National office and affiliates.
- Managing the unit’s budget.
Requirements: - Advanced knowledge of major gift fundraising best practices.
- Experience assessing fundraising potential through data and research.
- Proficiency in using data to evaluate portfolio performance.
- A track record of leading teams with empathy and accountability.
- Strong communication skills.
