Job Description
Contentful is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to contribute to the building and operation of robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure. The engineer will help shape the backbone that supports hundreds of billions of requests per month. This role involves improving systems thoughtfully and working in a team that values short, fast iterations while keeping long-term strategy in mind.Contentful is focused on solving real problems and delivering value to both internal and external customers. The engineer will join a team of thoughtful, collaborative engineers who support each other, share knowledge freely, and work closely with product teams.What this role involves:
  • Designing, building, and maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure.
  • Working with AWS using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices.
  • Deploying and optimizing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Working with Edge and Serverless technologies to deploy a globally distributed infrastructure.
  • Collaborating across domains and teams to enable infrastructure improvements.
  • Improving observability at scale.
  • Anticipating bottlenecks or failure points before they cause problems.
  • Involvement in incident response and postmortems.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure in high-availability environments.
  • Strong AWS knowledge across core services.
  • Experience working with Serverless technologies.
  • Terraform expertise for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes (ideally EKS).
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go preferred).
  • Understanding of networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with CDN/Edge systems.
  • Comfortable debugging distributed systems issues.
  • Experience with observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing) and tools like Splunk and New Relic.
  • Familiarity with SRE practices: SLO, SLA, etc.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to context switch, work through ambiguity, and contribute across multiple workstreams.
