Tenable is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to enhance asset detection within their products. The role is focused on improving asset detection in Tenable’s products including researching methods to detect assets and developing code to identify these assets.
This position involves research and development initiatives, implementing advanced detection logic, and collaborating with stakeholders. The Senior Research Engineer will develop detection plugins for the Nessus vulnerability scanner based on research.
Responsibilities include:
- Working on complex research and development initiatives
- Implementing advanced detection logic while minimizing false positives and false negatives
- Interfacing with stakeholders on externalizing the outcomes of research
- Developing detection plugins for the Nessus vulnerability scanner based on research
- Researching and developing detection methods for services, products, and OSes
- Collaborating to develop new, and improve, detection approaches
- Bringing innovative ideas to improve our team’s processes and effectiveness
- Developing tools for assisting in the SDLC
- Keeping abreast of advancements and developments in the industry and perform original research to keep our customers secure
Requirements include:
- At least 5 years of R&D experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong software development skills
- Disciplined focus and adaptability
- Extensive experience with cloud solutions
- Proficiency with multiple operating systems, especially Linux
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about continuous learning
- Meticulous attention to detail
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
