Security Engineer, Production at Niantic

Niantic is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to enhance the security of its production environment. This role involves performing security reviews, consulting with product teams, and building hardened OS images for virtual machines and Docker/Kubernetes.

The Security Engineer will develop tooling to support the engineering organization in security-related tasks. They will also lead vulnerability remediation efforts for both in-house and third-party software within deployed production environments. This position requires collaboration with the SRE team and engineering leadership to implement security measures and provide innovative solutions to improve Niantic's overall security posture.

This role is hybrid and requires the candidate to be in the office in Zurich on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities:

• Perform security reviews of the platform and production environments.
• Offer consulting services for product teams, corporate IT, and security operations.
• Build hardened in-house OS images and configurations.
• Develop tooling to support the engineering organization with security topics.
• Lead vulnerability remediation of in-house and third-party software.
• Educate site reliability engineers and software engineers in security concerns.
• Collaborate with the SRE team and engineering leadership on security measures.
• Provide creative solutions to improve Niantic's security.

Requirements:

• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or Java.
• 5+ years of experience in a global company with cloud-centric infrastructure.
• In-depth understanding of Cloud technologies.
• Experience building tooling and improving security.
• Strong communication and team skills in a distributed environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment.
