Ozow, a leading fintech company redefining digital payments in South Africa, is seeking a Merchant Compliance Specialist. This role is crucial for ensuring merchant partners comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will maintain trust, mitigate risks, and foster a compliance culture within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate merchant onboarding, ensuring documentation is verified.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective and existing merchants.
  • Analyse corporate structures and ownership details.
  • Understand merchants’ operational processes and business models.
  • Collaborate with merchants post-integration.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging risks.
  • Utilize compliance monitoring tools.
  • Ensure compliance with KYC requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams to implement compliance procedures.
  • Act as an intermediary to resolve compliance-related issues.
  • Generate compliance reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance or risk management within fintech or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of South African regulatory requirements (FICA, POPIA) and international standards.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in compliance monitoring tools and software is a plus.
