Job Description
Ozow is seeking a Merchant Compliance Specialist to ensure merchant partners comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. This role is critical for maintaining trust and mitigating risks.

The role involves:
  • Facilitating the onboarding process for new merchants.
  • Conducting due diligence on prospective and existing merchants.
  • Analyzing corporate structures and ownership details.
  • Developing an understanding of merchants’ operational processes.
  • Collaborating with merchants post-integration.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and emerging issues.
  • Identifying and addressing potential risks.
  • Utilizing compliance monitoring tools.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial services regulations.
  • Evaluating merchants’ compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Partnering with internal teams to implement compliance procedures.
  • Acting as an intermediary between merchants and the company.
  • Generating reports summarizing compliance performance.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a similar role within the fintech or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of South African regulatory requirements (e.g., FICA, POPIA) and international standards.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exhibits a discerning approach to evaluating information and making decisions.
  • Proficiency in compliance monitoring tools and software is a plus.
