Principal Data Engineer (Databricks) - UK

Job Description

DATAPAO is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join their team remotely in the UK. This is a unique opportunity to be the first hire in the region and spearhead their regional expansion. The role involves working with EMEA and US customers to solve data engineering, ML, ML Ops, and cloud migration challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data, thrive on challenges, and be eager to build impactful solutions for customers.

Role Involves:

• Delivering complex projects individually or by leading small teams.
• Managing customer relationships in collaboration with a Project Manager.
• Supporting the pre-sales process.
• Mentoring junior engineers.
• Contributing to hiring best-in-class data talent.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven track record working with Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog).
• Extensive experience in ETL/ELT development and data pipeline orchestration.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep).
• Hands-on experience integrating Databricks with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
• Consulting & Client-Facing Skills.
