Research Engineer, Semantic Scholar

The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) is seeking a Research Engineer for its Semantic Scholar team. The Research Engineer will work on real-world research problems and systems that improve scientists' productivity and discovery experience. They will develop intelligent research assistants and platforms like Semantic Scholar.

Responsibilities:

• Build infrastructure for groundbreaking research.
• Conduct ML/AI/HCI experiments.
• Implement and share open-source software.
• Collaborate with Ai2 team members.
• Mentor early-career researchers and interns.
• Contribute to scientific papers.

Requirements:

• 2+ years implementing machine learning or AI, including prompt engineering and/or fine-tuning large language models.
• Strong software engineering skills.
• Experience with system building or deep learning frameworks.
• Passion for using AI to deliver high-quality products.
• BS or higher in Computer Science or related field (MS a plus).
