Industrial Design Lead at IDEO

IDEO Shanghai is seeking an Industrial Design Lead to transform complex systems, human needs, and technologies into user-friendly products and services. This role is crucial for strengthening the Industrial Design perspective at IDEO across various projects, from product interaction to software tools. The ideal candidate will collaborate across disciplines, create tangible design expressions, and communicate the essence of ideas.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with diverse teams (product designers, communication designers, etc.).
• Engaging in all aspects of the design process.
• Building empathy with users through field research.
• Supporting and mentoring junior design talent.

The ideal candidate has:

• A Product or Industrial Design degree with 8+ years of experience, including 3+ years in consulting.
• Excellent storytelling and communication skills.
• Ability to translate user needs, technical realities, and brand attributes into compelling products.
• Experience designing products with physical and digital components.
• Strong visualization skills, including sketching, 3D CAD modeling, and rendering.
• Experience leading clients and teams, particularly with Chinese clients.
