Vulcan is seeking a Machine Learning Researcher to develop safety and security solutions for ML systems, focusing on large language & multi-modal models (LLMs). The role involves hands-on experience building and deploying LLMs in production environments, addressing challenges related to adversarial attacks, model robustness, data privacy, and compliance. The Machine Learning Researcher will have opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field of AI safety and security.
  • Conduct original research on ML safety and security topics.
  • Develop techniques to identify and mitigate risks specific to LLMs.
  • Explore scalable approaches for ensuring model safety, fairness, and reliability.
  • Design, develop, and deploy LLMs for production use cases.
  • Implement monitoring tools to detect and address real-world threats to deployed ML systems.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and attack vectors in ML systems.
  • Develop tools and strategies for protecting LLM systems from adversarial attacks.
  • Build frameworks to evaluate the safety and security of LLMs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure LLM deployments comply with relevant regulations.
  • Publish research findings in leading journals and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Strong programming expertise in Python and experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience building, fine-tuning, and deploying LLMs and NLP models in production.
  • Knowledge of adversarial ML, differential privacy, and secure training practices.
  • Experience with MLOps tools for deploying and managing ML models in production.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and optimizing large-scale ML models for real-world applications.
  • Track record of addressing security and safety concerns in deployed ML systems.
  • Experience with data preprocessing, model evaluation, and performance tuning for LLMs in production.
  • Experience in identifying emerging ML and AI threats.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write and speak in English fluently.
  • Passion for developing robust, secure, and ethical AI systems.
