Staff Security Engineer

Job Description

Alpaca, a US-based brokerage infrastructure technology company, is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to enhance its security efforts. The role involves safeguarding Alpaca’s systems, data, and client assets from cyber threats. The Security Team is fully remote, and the position reports to the CISO.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and triage security events.
• Develop and maintain security incident response playbooks.
• Conduct Threat Hunting activities.
• Manage and optimize security tools and technologies.
• Enhance the security of the CI/CD pipeline.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering for secure design.
• Lead vulnerability management and penetration testing.
• Foster cross-functional relationships with IT, Engineering, and Compliance.
• Assist with compliance audits.
• Conduct security research.

Requirements:

• Excitement about Alpaca’s mission.
• 6-8 years of experience in security operations, security engineering, product security, and DevSecOps.
• Experience with SIEM/SOAR and automation solutions.
• Experience with cloud-centric environments and Kubernetes security.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Availability for on-call rotations.
