The Sales Development Representative role at 2U, a company focused on eliminating the back row in education, is based in Cape Town, South Africa. This role is critical for generating interest in 2U's product offerings and securing meetings for the Business Development Managers. The Sales Development Representative will engage in lead generation through inbound and outbound efforts, applying targeted account outreach and personalized messaging.

This position requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a high volume of leads while delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves maintaining database accuracy and adhering to SLAs. It's an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about B2B sales within the online education sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and qualify marketing generated leads.
  • Plan and execute prospecting activities to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Identify prospect's needs and suggest appropriate products/services.
  • Set up meetings or calls between (prospective) customers and sellers.
  • Record all activity and maintain database accuracy.
  • Communicate with customers, making outbound calls to potential customers, and following up on leads.
  • Understand customers' needs and identify sales opportunities.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with prospects to qualify leads as sales opportunities.
  • Answer potential customers' questions and send additional information by email.
  • Keep up with product and service information and updates to accurately describe features of products and services.
  • Achieve opportunity and meeting targets.
  • Report on weekly, monthly, and quarterly results.

Requirements:
  • 3 - 4 Year Marketing or Sales related qualification, preferred
  • 1 - 2 Years sales development or account management experience in a B2B environment - preferably SAAS technologies; IT; or online education
  • Ability to multitask, manage projects and work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • New business development experience would be beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic data analysis skills
