Senior Cloud Ops Engineer at GoFundMe

GoFundMe is seeking a Senior Cloud Ops Engineer to join its Platform Infrastructure and Operations team. This role is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and focuses on building and maintaining an advanced cloud infrastructure essential for the online fundraising platform. The engineer will ensure the infrastructure achieves 99.999% availability, supporting a global payments platform.

The Senior Cloud Ops Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and implementing resilient cloud solutions, fostering innovation, and enhancing system performance. They will participate in strategic decisions, improve infrastructure resiliency, and incorporate scalability and performance testing into service design.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing fault-tolerant cloud solutions.
• Sharing expertise and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Participating in strategic decisions regarding cloud architecture.
• Enhancing system performance, observability, and reliability.
• Leading initiatives to improve infrastructure resiliency.
• Driving application resilience through load testing and fault simulation.
• Incorporating testing phases within CI/CD pipelines.
• Contributing to implementing and analyzing DORA metrics.
• Participating in an on-call rotation.

Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years of experience designing and managing scalable, cloud-based infrastructure.
• Expert-level knowledge of AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in software architecture, including asynchronous event-driven architecture and microservices.
• Experience in performance and reliability testing using tools like Artillery or K6.
• Experience in defining, monitoring, and managing SLIs and SLOs.
• Proven expertise in disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Hands-on experience with APM tools like New Relic, DataDog, and Splunk.
• Advanced scripting and development skills in Bash, PHP, and NodeJS.
• Skilled in managing distributed data systems and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Knowledgeable in compliance regulations, including PCI, SOC2, and GDPR.
