Contractor: Frontend Software Engineering Services at Newsela

The company is looking for a Frontend Software Engineering Services Contractor. This role primarily involves providing technical expertise in frontend development, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality code. The contractor will serve as the technical contact for Front End concerns, helping balance technical concerns with long-term strategy. They will also be involved in the earliest stages of each project.Responsibilities include:

• Serving as the technical contact for Front End concerns.
• Balancing technical concerns with long-term strategy.
• Working with team leadership on technical scoping and discovery.
• Ensuring the quality of Front End PR’s.
• Critically and technically reviewing all PRs.
• Ensuring technical tickets are scoped appropriately.

Requirements include:

• 5+ years of experience with frontend software development.
• Experience building complex web applications.
• Proficiency in Javascript, Typescript, semantic HTML, responsive CSS, and either React or Next.js.
• Experience with modern web standards, responsive design, and web accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.0+).
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
