Job Description
Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking an Asset Workflow Supervisor (Principal Engineer) to lead the adoption of asset sharing initiatives. This role involves collaborating with studio leadership and partner studios to analyze production and business processes across Sony Media and Entertainment divisions. The Asset Workflow Supervisor will also oversee the internal development lifecycle, designing, implementing, training, integrating, and deploying solutions to various departments within Imageworks. The role involves:
  • Crafting and implementing an Asset Workflow vision and strategy.
  • Collaborating with artistic studio leadership to impact artist workflows.
  • Contributing to innovative research and development.
  • Providing expert opinions on 3rd party, open source, and in-house solutions.
  • Developing in-house Sony standards for asset creation and sharing.
  • Providing guidance on USD pipelines.
  • Participating in the Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD).
  • Establishing connections with Sony vendors and industry partners.
  • Developing processes for sharing assets between studios.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience with VFX/Animation and/or Gaming Pipeline Development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience with OpenUSD, MaterialX, and other open-source asset standards.
  • Experience with DCC/Game Engines such as Maya, Autodesk, Unreal, Unity, and Side FX Houdini.
  • Experience with developing pipeline tools, Python, PyQt/PySide, C++, and gLTF.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, mentorship, communication, and leadership skills.
