NPR is looking for a China Correspondent to join their Beijing Bureau. This role involves developing coverage ideas for China, Hong Kong, and Asia across various platforms.
- Gathering information and reporting for news programs
- Creating content for digital platforms, including the website, podcasts, and short-form videos
- Preparing and presenting reports and program segments from abroad
- Collaborating across the NPR newsroom and network
- Reporting on breaking news and developing stories illustrating significant political, economic, social, and cultural issues from China
To be successful in this role, the candidate should meet these requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of broadcast experience, including international reporting and radio and digital production
- Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of broadcast and digital journalism
- Proven understanding of complex foreign policy issues, especially those involving China and Asia
- In-depth knowledge of regional history, politics, and economics
- Fluency in Mandarin is strongly preferred
- Experience working overseas, especially in China, is strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
