NPR is looking for a China Correspondent to join their Beijing Bureau. This role involves developing coverage ideas for China, Hong Kong, and Asia across various platforms.
  • Gathering information and reporting for news programs
  • Creating content for digital platforms, including the website, podcasts, and short-form videos
  • Preparing and presenting reports and program segments from abroad
  • Collaborating across the NPR newsroom and network
  • Reporting on breaking news and developing stories illustrating significant political, economic, social, and cultural issues from China
To be successful in this role, the candidate should meet these requirements:
  • Minimum of 6 years of broadcast experience, including international reporting and radio and digital production
  • Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of broadcast and digital journalism
  • Proven understanding of complex foreign policy issues, especially those involving China and Asia
  • In-depth knowledge of regional history, politics, and economics
  • Fluency in Mandarin is strongly preferred
  • Experience working overseas, especially in China, is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
