Job Description
Volley is seeking a Staff Game Designer to spearhead gameplay design for its key games, aiming to create engaging experiences for millions of players. This role demands a versatile individual capable of seamlessly transitioning between game design, rapid prototyping (technical art), and UX/UI design to ensure a cohesive player experience. The ideal candidate will leverage their skills and interest in generative AI to elevate creativity, innovation, and productivity at Volley.This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence in the Bay Area office three times a week (MWF). Candidates should either reside in or near the Bay Area or be willing to relocate.What This Role Involves:
  • Owning end-to-end gameplay design for top-priority titles.
  • Quickly prototyping ideas within visual editors (Unity, PlayCanvas, or similar).
  • Communicating vision, aligning stakeholders, and documenting designs.
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level designers.
  • Serving as a thought leader on leveraging generative AI tools.
What Volley is Looking For:
  • 8+ years in professional game design, with experience shipping casual or mobile games.
  • Expertise across game design, technical art implementation, and UX/UI design for games.
  • Proven ability to lead design vision and execute complex ideas.
  • Enthusiasm for generative AI tools.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills.
  • Deep passion for casual gaming.
