Data Engineer

Job Description

Seesaw is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Data Foundations team. The Data Foundations team functions as the engine behind Seesaw’s data infrastructure. This role will be key contributor to efforts to build a more distributed, privacy-conscious data platform. The Data Engineer will work closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to maintain and enhance the Snowflake-based data warehouse, ensure the reliability of ETL pipelines, and support evolving international data needs.

Role involves:

• Designing and implementing scalable data warehouse models and strategy using Snowflake.
• Contributing to the evolution of international data infrastructure footprint, including support for regional data storage and compliance needs.
• Evolving ETL pipelines to meet the growing needs of customers and business.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Partnering closely with product engineering and analytics teams to design and guide implementation of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
• Documenting data models, dictionaries, and governance practices.
• Staying current with new tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
• Deep experience with Snowflake, including managing large-scale deployments and performance tuning
• Experience building and maintaining robust ETL pipelines (e.g., with AWS Glue, Airflow, etc.)
• Experience with AWS and cloud-based data architectures
• Experience supporting distributed data infrastructure or regional data warehouse instances
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
