Cloud Engineer (gn) Observability & FinOps at The Quality Group GmbH

The Quality Group (TQG) is seeking a Cloud Engineer to play a central role in advancing their cloud environment, with a focus on FinOps and Observability. The role involves ensuring transparency and cost control across AWS and Azure platforms while optimizing monitoring and logging with Datadog. The Cloud Engineer will work independently but collaboratively within the team, setting new standards for the company's FinOps and Observability setup through clear processes and best practices.

The role involves:

• Developing and optimizing the FinOps strategy, focusing on cloud cost control, tagging strategies, dashboards, and reporting.
• Driving the advancement of the Datadog platform as a central monitoring and observability solution.
• Automating and optimizing monitoring processes, including the integration of new features and best practices.
• Creating and maintaining standards for cost control and observability and supporting other teams through enablement.
• Collaborating closely with development teams to understand monitoring platform requirements and implement them effectively.
• Identifying cost and optimization potentials in cloud environments and supporting development teams in independent implementation.
• Participating in the advancement of the cloud platform and supporting overarching technical initiatives.

Requirements:

• Experience in Cloud Engineering with a focus on FinOps and Observability.
• Deep understanding of the implementation, optimization, and management of AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Experience with Terraform as an Infrastructure-as-Code tool.
• Proficiency with Datadog as a primary monitoring tool, or experience with similar solutions like Elastic or OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of FinOps practices for optimizing cloud costs and resource management.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for process automation (desirable).
• Ability to work independently and proactively, recognizing technical challenges and developing solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
