Backend Engineer, SaaS Data Protection

Job Description

Veeam, the leader in data protection and ransomware recovery, is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its Veeam Data Cloud (VDC) engineering team. The ideal candidate will work with a global team to build next-generation data protection services focused on data resilience. This role offers the opportunity to work on greenfield projects, developing features from the ground up for worldwide deployment.

The role involves:

• Designing and developing reliable, scalable, and globally available cloud services for data protection.
• Participating in technical design discussions, code reviews, and providing feedback.
• Ensuring high-quality, thoroughly tested, and secure code.
• Taking ownership of reliability and efficiency of services running in the cloud.
• Participating in on-call rotation for product operations.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Expertise in a modern programming language (Java, Go, Scala, or Rust).
• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, concurrency).
• Experience designing, building, and implementing core features in production services or software.
• Experience developing, testing, and debugging production-quality, scalable, multithreaded, concurrent systems.
• Passion for code quality, extensibility, coding standards, testing, and automation.
