Staff Machine Learning Engineer – End-to-End Autonomous Driving

Job Description

XPENG, a smart technology company specializing in AI and autonomous driving technologies, is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer. This role involves researching, implementing, and evaluating a unified end-to-end onboard model, utilizing technologies like transformer-based architectures, diffusion models, reinforcement learning, and Vision-Language-Action models. The engineer will collaborate with experts in computer vision, AI systems, and software engineering to enhance autonomous vehicle performance.

Responsibilities include:

• Researching and developing deep learning algorithms for end-to-end models.
• Developing Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models for context-aware decision-making.
• Designing and optimizing efficient neural network architectures.
• Developing and scaling offline machine learning infrastructure for rapid adaptation.
• Delivering production-quality onboard software.
• Leveraging real-world datasets to train and refine driving models.
• Designing and analyzing large-scale experiments.
• Collaborating with system software engineers to deploy high-performance models.
• Working cross-functionally with AI researchers and autonomous driving engineers.

Requirements include:

• MS or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science with a focus on Deep Learning, AI, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in applied deep learning.
• 3-5+ years of experience with DL frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow.
• Strong Python programming experience with software design skills.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, code optimization and large-scale data processing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
