The company is a leader in family safety and location services. They are seeking a Java Developer to join their team. The Java Developer will work in a collaborative team of engineers specializing in Java, PHP, Python and Cloud to build and maintain modern, secure, and scalable internal platforms and systems. The Java Developer will work closely with distributed teams to evolve the architecture by decoupling monolithic systems, developing new microservices, and optimizing high-scale, low-latency infrastructure.
What this role involves:
- Supporting the platform modernization effort by decoupling PHP services into scalable Java microservices.
- Maintaining and enhancing Java and PHP services by fixing bugs and implementing improvements.
- Ensuring platform and service scalability, reliability, and resilience for both users and internal teams.
- Driving the adoption of new technologies, frameworks, libraries, and internal tools across the company.
- Proposing and implementing upgrades to optimize system performance and maintainability.
- Assisting the Test Engineering team in automating service and component validation to improve efficiency.
- Working asynchronously with US-based teams, contributing to seamless cross-time zone collaboration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Java services, including Spring Boot.
- 3+ years of experience with PHP.
- Strong understanding of microservices and horizontally scalable architectures.
- Practical experience with AWS services, including EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and SQS.
- Experience with relational or non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
- Familiarity with queuing/streaming technologies such as Kafka and NSQ.
- English proficiency at B2 or higher for effective communication.
