Job Description

Proton is seeking a Public Relations Lead for North America to drive awareness and sign-ups for Proton's products, including encrypted email, calendar, drive storage, VPN, and password management. The Public Relations Lead will represent Proton, a forward-thinking tech company focused on privacy.

The role involves shaping the global privacy debate and bringing it to a mainstream audience. The candidate will operate independently and take ownership of Proton’s Communications strategy in North America.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing integrated communications campaigns for North America.
  • Developing and deploying communications campaigns focused on Proton’s product suite.
  • Generating headlines in North American mainstream, consumer and tech media.
  • Building and maintaining Proton’s stakeholder maps and own relationships with top tier North American media outlets.
  • Driving support for Proton’s policy positions through targeted media coverage.
  • Engaging with conference and events organizers to secure speaker slots for Proton representatives.
  • Protecting Proton’s reputation with timely responses to media enquiries.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in both B2C and B2B communications.
  • Experience building and owning relationships with journalists and acting as a company spokesperson.
  • A strong network of tech, business and consumer media contacts.
  • Crisis management experience and ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • The ability to develop strategic market specific campaigns within the context of an international team.
